New Flamenco from Spain
This unusual band is formed by Roser Loscos from Lleida (violin), Marta Robles from Seville (guitar), Alicia Grillo from Córdoba (guitar) and the singer Carolina Fernández “La Chispa” from Merida.
Las Migas started their journey back in 2004 when Marta Robles, Silvia Pérez Crúz (until 2011), Isabel Laudenbach (2013) met at the Scola Superior de Música de Catalunya were they decided to create the band and soon after Lisa Bause joined (until 2013). At their very beginnings they won the Spanish Award from Instituto de la Juventud -INJUVE- (The Young Institute) for Best Flamenco Band. This increased their status and they were performing at Festivals such as Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, the Ciutat Vella Flamenco Festival, La Pedrera and started touring in festivals in Italy, Netherlands, Hungary, Bulgaria, France and Tunicia.
Their first album “Reinas del Matute” gets released in 2010 which it is produced by Raul Refre and counts with musicians such as Raul Rodriguez and Javier Colina, the album becomes a success and they start a longer tour around Spain and Europe. By the end of 2011, their singer Silvia Perez Cruz announces she is leaving the band to start a solo career and she gives her last concert with Las Migas at the well known festival Grec in Barcelona. Right after they they announce their new singer Alba Carmona, who had already sang some vocals on their album.
They release their second album “Nosotras Somos” produced by Raul Rodriguez followed by a tour that takes them around Catalonian, Madrid and Southern Spain. From February 2013 many changes awaited the band, their violinist Lisa Bause leaves and she is substituted by Roser Loscos, by the end of the year also the Breton Isabel Laudenbach says goodbye to Las Migas and Alicia Grillo takes her place.
